I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to create a paint "brush stroke" in an image? I am not looking to have the image look completely like a painting, I am wanting to know how to incert brush strokes... please see the attached image for an example of what I am looking to accomplish. Thank you for your time and help! God bless!

In the menu bar click>Filter>Brush strokes
there are many different types of strokes to use
Select the area you want to edit with them then go to filter.

that would be a textured layer, you would hit the image you intend to convert to brushed strokes with the layer containing the effect as a overlay maybe?

if you look close at the girls arm, I selected it and changed the style of the brush stroke (even fingers) using Menu as I mention above
very rough selection, it could have been better

You know, I found another image from this photographer edited the same way and he posted a note on his blog stating that he used 4 different textures for the above image and one of this is called "Harsh Brush Strokes" ... does anyone know where I might be able to find a texture like this? Also, how would I blend this with the image to come through the stroke texture? I have worked with texture in PS for a long time now, but I am at a loss as to how to process this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

This is the best i can do with the standard brushes and preset tools within CS2.
