Hi,

I'm looking for a Photoshop plug-in that I've used before but can't remember the name. The plug-in takes the outer-lying pixels of an image with a blank background and pushes those pixels out. The image I've included is representative of what the plug-in does. Does anyone know the name of this plug-in.

Thanks

Neil

Alright, I'll be more specific. I'm batch processing about 1000 images and it's not possible by hand. Again, if anyone knows the name of this plug-in please let me know.

i think what your looking for is a filter called Spherize
it works both horizontal or vertical

Filter>Distort>Spherize

Thanks for the help,

I think I'll end up creating an action that copies the original image to a new layer, move it beneath then nudge that by 1 pixel and repeat that process until I get a stream of pixels coming off the original image.

Make an action: Filter -> Other -> Offset: Horizontal: +1 px, Vertical - 0 px. Then Fade Offset: Opacity - 100%, Mode - Dissolve.
Play it a lot of times, it will give you the effect you want for the left side.

Copy layer. The same action but with the Filter -> Other -> Offset: Horizontal: -1 px, Vertical - 0 px, would give you the same bleed on the right side.

My post with Offset was just for fun sake, I still can't fully understand how and why it's working :)

Nudging image is more straightforward. Only there is no need to copy layers. Just make selection from the layer opacity(Ctrl click the layer in the Layers Panel) and strart pressing Ctrl+Alt+Right arrow. That will turn your selection to "floating" selection and duplicate-nudge the selection on the same layer.

Of course, you can wrap it in the action or droplet too.

I have used a similar plug-in & have also not been able to find it. I think the one you have demonstrated works in conjunction with a clipping path. However... a similar plug-in that will do close to what you are after is a plug-in from flaming pear... it's part of their freebie package... it's called solidify... you could always duplicate your base layer, do your cut out on the duplicate & run solidify underneath on the base layer. Just a thought.

if you go to flamingpear dot com forward slash goodies dothtml you can see the link

as I am new to this site, i can not post a url.... so, good luck
