Each of the 4 sides of any pyramid has a different color.

My objective is to load an image in photoshop, apply a mesh with a seamless pyramid pattern design, and to average the color of the underlying image into every singlesmall triangle.

In fact it is very much like stained glass effect but i want every cell to be like these pyramid sides.

Can you help me?

Have you a mesh grid? If not, could you find one, because I have a feeling that the triangular patterns on the grid would not line up in a way that would suite the various triangles formed by the pyramid edges.

Yes it is a very basic mesh like this (picture is for reference only i know i have to outline only the triangles : )

if you have the grid, you can define 4 selections ( top selection, bottomselection, leftselection, rightselection)
then you can make an action that average the color and moves the selection

if you want a particular picture done in piramids you can upload it ,and I wil fix it
(I can give the action-atn but maybe it does not work on an english adobe PS)

YEAH !!! THAT's IT EXACTLY!:cheesygrin::lol::lol::razz::razz:

Thank you!

As i don't know know yet what the density of the grid will be i need to do some testing with several pictures.

THe final result needs to be recognizable, but not too time consuming!!!! (ie. a grid size of 50 * 70 pyramids means i will have to make 3500 mini paper pyramids loool)

Can you give me step by step instructions?
-how to do the grid
-how to tell photoshop cs5 to average color in the triangles

thank you soooo much : )

take this image and go to "edit -- define pattern"
piramid.jpg
open a picture and make a new layer shft+ctrl+N
fill it with white and go to "layer-layerstile-pattern overlay"
you can browse for the new piramid patern , set blendmode on multiply and change scale into ...%

as for the average color
select the picture-layer and make a triangle selection , go to "filter -Blur -Average"

I'll read tomorrow how it went

Oh i think i understand, you mean by "action" a special script i have to write to make photoshop do the blurring sequentially in each triangle...
I have absolutely no idea how to do this...
