need advice on how to make this circle into a rectangle please

im trying to skin a jukebox program and im using this button , i need to make it a rectangle with slight rounded corners if possible

is there an easy way?

also when i save my image as png file on transparent backround it saves with a white square around it and then when i put it into the juke software it shows up some bits of backround , am i doing something wrong here?


appreciate any advice or help

I'm surprised, it you look in ps preference I can't remember what it's under file saving/Handleing or something like that. Check the drop down and save the background with Transparency. As far as the rectangle goes use the transform tool
 
Can't you try to re-create it in the shape you need? If that was to be warped or transformed into the shape you want , you may end up with a pixelated or disfigured button most especially at the "corner" areas.

What I can suggest is to enlarge the canvass horizontally (say 200px) use the Single Column Marquee Tool - create a layer column copy of the center , divide the button into 2 equal portions and move the halves to both ends of canvass. Then transform the column copy - stretching it horizontally snapping it to the halves. Merge layers.

Use Save for Web & Devices making sure to tick the Transparency box.

Hope you get what I outlined.....
