I designed a website for a local community committee and when I (or anyone else) bookmarks the site it shows the Site Name with the Netscape Navigator logo. I want to remove the reference to the Navigator logo and replace it with one of my own. Anyone know how I can do that?

I don't understand where this logo came from, the site was designed in Dreamweaver and I don't even have Netscape on my machine [confused] [confused]

Any help would be appreciated :B

That sounds odd Rick.

None-the-less... here's what you do...

Create a 16x16 or a 32x32 pixel icon.
Name it "favicon.ico". (no quotes obviously)
Upload it to the ROOT directory of your site.

Then put this code snippet into the <header> of your index page:

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://YOUR URL HERE/favicon.ico">

This will get rid of any other icon but yours. It will cause your custom icon to appear beside your site's name when anyone bookmarks or creates a short-cut to your site, as well as insert it beside your url in the Location strip. :B

Keeper, you made another hit!

GOAL!!!!!!

Indeed: IE and Opera do the same. And some sites are bookmarked with their own icon. Never knew how to do this.
If you were a beautiful girl, prefereably lovable and verrry rich, I'd ask you to marry me!
