Narrowing of brush

Is there a way to actually make the brush narrow down as you progressively draw a line? Like it is thick at the beginning and starts to narrow down as you proceed along the line and ends at some point?

If you have a pressure sensitive graphics tablet such as a Wacom Intuos or Bamboo then it's easy of course.

I think Photoshop CS5 has some new brushes built in that try to simulate it also even with a mouse, but I haven't tried them yet. Try them out if you have CS5, and just play with the brush settings.

You can also just go back over the area that you used the brush on with either the eraser or a mask to make certain parts more narrow.

What you are looking for is present in brush palette options. Just head over to the options of brush palette, then under 'Shape dynamics' look for 'Fade'. It is turned off by default. You can turn this on and set it to an appropriate level. the more you set it to, the faster your line 'thins'. All the best.
