First off, I purchased some .png icon images from a user at graphicriver.net.
I modified an icon and saved it as a .png, preserving the transparent area around the image.
I then uploaded it using another online program... and... as the title states, my .PNG has weird shapes in the transparency that weren't visible before via that online program.
Here are the before (left) and after (right) pics.

I'm assuming it's somehow showing hidden content in the original layers from the creator, but how can I get rid of it in my .png? Thnx.

Describe what modifications you made to the original. What online "program" did you use?

IamSam, I only modified the front of the billboard to include the 'Time' logo. I replaced an image on a layer of a smart object to do this.
I'm trying to use the image on mapsalive.com the be part of an interactive map.
I've tried the same thing with a different image which was not a smart layer and did not have a problem.

Sorry, we were typing at the same time.

After you make your changes to the smart object, duplicate the final product and rastorize the duplicate, save it under a new name.png and try to upload it again.

Ok, it's probably the graphicriver .png file then. You may not be able to use them.

You can test this by trying upload the following .png.

It's a shape converted to a smart object with a twirl smart filter. See if it has the same issues.
