Thanks for that link, Gaussian! Very complete, and it covers everything...various PS versions, plus OS's.

When PS starts acting screwy for no reason (and nothing else is wrong) my first troubleshooting step is to drag the Preferences file out. I always have a good copy of the file, with all my custom preferences so I can use that to replace the corrupted one.
