Hello everybody,

I am trying create a smooth curve-like line with the pen tool.

I noticed that the pen tool really need some practice but I am no quite familiar to with it to create the shapes and curves I need.

However I have not found out jet how I can select the the finished curve / shape to modify the style such as color, thickness etc.

Regards,
Tom

Change the paintbrush settings and shape dynamics then reapplying the pen stroke. Think of the pen tool in this case as an automatic brush that will draw on the path that you just created.

Thanks for your answer. I am not rally sure how you meant that but will try it out and maybe come back.

Did you mean that I crate first only the path without any style and after that paint over that path with a brush etc?

Tom

If you use the pen tool to create whatever shape or curve you want. You can then right-click and select apply stroke or something (don't have photoshop in front of me right now so not 100% sure about the wording). This will then draw the line for you applying the current brush settings.

edit: I just looked it up it's 'Stroke Path'

There are two tools directly below the pen tool, the Direct Selection Tool and the Path Selection Tool. Use the Direct tool to select an individual point, or points to move. Path Selection Tool, selects the entire path.

Alternately, while using the Pen Tool, hold down the Ctrl key to select a point or points to move.

Thanks for your tip with the path selection tool...... Is there trick how to use it? I have tried that already and I wasn't able to select the path.

Will try it again later.
