This is a colorization and mixer brush painting of Chief White Shield a Cheyenne chief. He was well thought of and died from natural causes in 1883. Photo is a greyscale image downloaded from the Library of Congress.

I would really appreciate some comments..good or bad

Hi Larry, this is, as usual with your mixer brush manipulations, pretty good work. I like the way you colored in the various ribbons.

It could maybe use a little more contrast and putting back some of the natural shadow like on his back and side. There's also some white halo effect, most noticeable on the beads around his neck. I have one question, why did you leave the animal skin adornment greyscale and create a mirror kind of piece on the right? Just curious.

Nice mixing. I have never tried this, but now I would like to. Thanks. It could make a really good Challenge topic. I'll have to suggest it!

The greyscale you speak of is true to the photo. It apparently is some kind of animal hair. A great deal of this was guess work on colors etc, as I had no reference. Same thing on the right there. That is some kind of woven fabric and again a guess. I repaired the white halo in my printed piece. Which, by the way, is killer. It's 11 x 14 on Red River Aurora paper off my 8 color Canon Pro 100. I framed it with laser cut clear acrylic. I mounted it from the back with some Scotch acid free double stick tape on .062 acrylic, then overlaid it with 1/8" clear with 2" borders. Used a little clear acrylic solvent cement at the edges. It looks good on my wall.

You should try the mixer brush with the bristle brushes. I like the wide fan brush. Just use the presets for mixing and if you just want to lay down color use the dry setting. But certainly experiment with all of them until you get what you like to work with.
Thanks so much for A comment. I was wondering if it was ever going to get just one. (Lots of work here)

Thanks again!

Thank you Paul. I have some new ones but lack of interest in this one made me reluctant to post them. Pressing on.

We are so temperamental, we artists! :bustagut:

Press on, Larry. Let's see some more.

You know that avatar, the one with the guy pulling his hair? How about a guy holding up a trophy? Or a beautiful Acrylic framed mixer pic?
