Hello! You can see below a part of an image I am creating through Photoshop CS5. The pink-coloured backround is painted. So I want to add some brushes above it. The problem, as you can see, is that the above brushes seem to be flatten. The background layer, has some lines from the brush I used. (The brush-layer is in "Difference" mode because I wanted this tone color especially)

My question is, how can I make the above brush layer to fit somehow better in the lower layer's pattern?

The following picture can be a good example to what I mean. The PS user seems to have brushed the layer, and it fits perfectly!

Thanks in advance :)

Use a Layer mask and mess with the shades of Grey/Black to get the desired result. The nearer to black brush you use the more you will reveal what's beneath. Try something like a 333333 grey and adjust the shade of grey until you get the look you want.

Actually, try this buddy:

Open the .psd/file you are working on.
Create a layer above the image and put your texture on it.
Create a Layer mask on the texture layer then hold your Ctrl key and click on the layer below 9Assuming the bit you want to show through is on it's own layer). This should select the bit you want to cut out on the layer mask.
Select a light grey colour on the paintbrush and carefully reduce the texture layer until you have achieved the desired look.

Dammit, can't edit these post's!

Just wanted to add, before holding the Ctrl key, make sure you have single clicked on the layer mask first.
