Hi, I'm trying to add text (just the ouline if the text) to an existing jpec. Each time i add a new word it creates a new layer but when I merge the layers all the words dissapear. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks Paul, I know how to add the text. My problem comes when I want to save the image with the added text. I can't get the layers to merge and be saved.

Hi Patrick and welcome to the forum!

Are you intentionally placing each word on a separate layer?

It's always much easier for us to help you when we have an example. In this case, a sample PSD file would be best.

Hi thanks for your interest. I eventually (with the help of my brother) what the problem was. I googled 'how to outline text' and the method I used was apparently using vector tools which wouldn't save. I've now got it right using PS tools and it works a treat. If anyone's interested the procedure we figured out is as follows
- Create the word using the TEXT tool,
- right click on the layer in the layer palette & select Rasterise Text
- Put the curser on the thumnail in the layer palette. Left click while holding down the Cntr key
- click on Edit - Stroke. Select the line thickness, colour, etc from the popup menu then click OK
- click on Edit - Clear
- click on Select - Deselect
- click on Layer - Merge Down
- Save

I'm glad to hear you figured it out!

Now that I understand what you were trying to accomplish, I can tell you that there are several ways to do this.
