just saying, you've done it with other things, and i think the new rule on Free edits requires an announcment maboby at the top of the forum.

Photoshop Gurus has never been a place for people to just come and order free edits, especially when they don't even introduce themselves or even bother saying why they want the edits done. There are some cases where people are desperate for help creating an image with a legitimate reason for wanting it done, but when its people wanting free logos or wallpapers, it takes the Mick. Why do they not do it themselves, apart from laziness, and if they need any advice or opinions, we can help them. If you are that bored, why don't you come up with your own project, instead of doing the project of some cheap skate. The only rules that this website needs are already here, it's just that the people that make requests with their first post don't bother reading them.

OK, this is from a previous post, until I'm told otherwise this is the policy here at PSG:

"This site is not going allow some of the silly requests that were get posted anymore including, posts of people that could be used in an malicious way, editing documents, and of course not allow offensive or pornographic requests.

For example, "Please PS this pic of my friend doing ........"
These posts may be used as a friendly joke or as a way to ridicule someone.

We're also not going to allow multiple request by the same user like the situation that happened a couple of weeks ago where several people posted dozens of requests.
That was a first for this board, we'll be looking for it now.

PSG can't be manned by staff 24/7 and having every posted moderated for approval in a forum where many people come in for a quick Q&A is impractical so we will get unwanted posts.
We'll filter the request threads but if you see a request you feel in inappropriate please use the Report Button.

A paid and free area isn't necessarily.
The paid section already exists, and free requests can go in the general forum.
In the past we got only a few a week, not really an epidemic.

Creating a Free section IMHO advertises this site as a free PS manipulation site, not a reputation we want.
On the other hand this isn't someplace where you're going to pickup a steady stream of paid requests in Freelance.
In fact there's only been a couple of requests in Freelance in the past month.

Most of the free requests are by kids asking for simple if not juvenile edits.
To suggest these free requests actually have any impact on our Freelance section is just ridiculous.
These kids weren't ever going to pay for the edits they were requesting if that were they're only option.

One last thing:
If a request for a free edit is posted you the member decide whether or not you want to do the edit.
Negative comments about free work are off topic and will be deleted.
Telling someone to post in Freelance is off topic and will be deleted.

If you want to watermark your image go ahead but to ask for payment to remove the watermark isn't, so please don't ask, that request will be deleted.

These are the current policies of PSG.
I appreciate all the comments and suggestions.
Please PM me if you have any additional thoughts or suggestions."

ooh ooh, can i just say one thing.

i know it may be "offensive or whatever" but i love the single excuse pretty much all of them come out with.

because i'm not good at photoshop

hahahahaha! invitation to sit with the gurus and learn then ;)

I BET you the next free request person will say something like that!

Glad I read this thread before asking for a Photoshop request ...lol

To be honest though, I know absolute sod all about Photoshop but I can appreciate the time and effort that must go into even the smallest photo manipulation, not to mention the initial cost of the software.

It does seem rude that people like myself just join the forum and EXPECT someone to give up their time to edit a photo and then disappear perhaps without so much as a ThankYou. I'll be posting a Request shortly enough (after I've fulfilled my min post count !!) to change something on my car, I'd be more than happy to contribute or donate to a Charity of the Guru's choice for their efforts - it would be the least I could do.
because I'm not good at photoshop
would be the understatement of the year - I struggle with copy & paste, never mind Photoshop.

Cheers,

Steve

Why wouldn't just offer compensation directly? Why a donation, that doesn't make any sense. If you asked for any kind of work anywhere but here you'd expect to pay for it. Paint my house and I'll make a donation in your name?

Obviously I'm new to this forum and I apologise for any upsets caused.

I'm on quite a few car forums and as members we try to help others out when it comes to fixing or modifying cars, we appreciate that many folks may not have the necessary tools or know how and we help out as much as we can. I perhaps thought that a forum like this offers the same kind of thing, again I apologise for jumping to the wrong confusion.

I have just posted a thread asking for some Photoshop editing, if a mod or members feel this is inappropriate, please delete it.

Steve

baah, don't take it to heart stephen, some people on this forum have strong opinions as all ;) listen, if you've got photoshop, then we are willing to help you out on getting to know what to do and all that jazz.

I came here asking for help on a wallpaper design i think, and to be honest i was S*** at photoshop! just ask someone here like hoogle or something just how bad I used to be at photoshop XD

i suppose you could say i'm still not good in certain areas, but i'm better than i was for sure!

Moral of the story, everyone can learn how to use photoshop sure it takes time, but it comes with amazing benefits.

so stick around, ask questions on how to do this, how to do that, i'm sure one of us can help you!
