Hello all. I am new to this forum and relatively new to Illustrator. Recently I saw an ad online that caught my eye so I wanted to mimic it. Basically what I want to do is divide a rectangle into strips or bars and then mask a photo inside those strips/bars.
So here's what I tried but it did not work:
1. Created a rectangle
2. Clicked OBJECT-PATH-SPLIT INTO GRID to make the rectangle 6 horizontal bars
3. Pasted the photo, then clicked SEND TO BACK to arrange the bars on top of the photo.
4. With Layer 1 selected I then clicked MAKE/RELEASE CLIPPING MASK.
When that did not work I tried grouping all the bars before clicking MAKE/RELEASE CLIPPING MASK, but that didn't work either. What am I doing wrong? Any help would truly be appreciated. :cool2:
thanks!

1) Select all the bars that you want as a clipping mask.

2) Make into a compound path (Object-Compound Path-Make)

3) Select all.

4) Object-Clipping Path-Make

I wanna and intent to do as this. But not clear from your concept. Help me through giving the link.

Janifar, please explain yourself. If you don't understand the concept, what is it you want to achieve? What link are you referring to. None is mentioned in the thread. Do you use Illustrator?
