Hi all,
I have 750 gif scanned images of maps. The problem is that I need to turn a border of 75 pixels right round each image either black or white. The image has to stay the same the same size, just the first 75 pixels all around have to be either black or white.

So how do I:
A make the border black or white?
B automate it so I don't have to do them all by hand?

Thanks for the help,
Jim

I'm assuming you're using CS3, here's what I'd do:

1 at the top of the screen go to window->actions.
2 go to the 'new' button it should be in the bottom right of the new window (just to the left of the trash can) and complete that menu however you want (defaults are fine)
3 at the top of the screen go to select->select all
4 go back to the select menu, then down to Modify-Contract in the pop up enter in 75
5 go back to select (last time, I promise) and go to 'inverse'
6 select any of the marquee tools off of your tool bar.
7 Right click and in that menu go to fill.
8 In the "fill" menu, select either white, or black in the "contents" drop down (the default is set as "foreground color"). Click okay to complete the fill
9 in the actions window (the first one we opened) click the stop button, it should be at the very bottom left button in that menu.
10 in the actions window, click on the name of the action you made (be default, it'll be "Action 1").

Now whenever you open a picture that you want to add the border to, just click the play button in the actions window.

If you don't want to click individually through all the images, than after setting up your action, I'd recommend looking at the File->Automate->Batch menu, I've never used it, but it should be pretty easy to figure out...
