Hi All,

First time poster and wondered if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction on how I could recreate this effect from the Man of Steel poster?

I tried searching for silhouetting but it doesn't seem to be the right phrase and am puzzled where to begin.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Arcane Soapbox :)

easy option would be to create a new solid black layer above the image you want the effect on add a layer mask select a soft large edged brush (the 1st 1 in ps brush panel) and paint in blac on the layer mask where you want the light effect to be. Obviously you need to have some kind of lighting effect in place already.

For a more realistic option I would maybe add an exposure or levels adjustment layer above your image and really darken it out and smae way with the layer mask paint out where you want the lighting effect to be. This method will just make it look more like shadows and not just painetd black
