Hello, I'm wondering if someone could please help me out with this. I don't normally go out and ask for photoshop help, but this has been bugging me since I've never learned how to do it in the past.

So here's the culprit.

So, what I need is just the white removed from around it completely so I end up with a transparent PNG that I can use on top of any background color. Also if you could post how on god's green earth you did this, I would very much appreciate it.

The main problem I get with doing this is, I always end up with those little itty bitty white pixels around the edges, and if I eliminate those, I end up with rough edges. So thanks in advance to anyone who takes a look at this.

making jpg with background transparent

I downloaded your artwork, then I duplicated it and filled the duplicate with a completely different patterned background. Then I clicked on the original and dragged it onto the new pattern/background. Then I went into the layers pallet and changed it to "multiply," which drops out the white background, giving you a transparent. Try it, it should work for you, although I am sure there are many ways to accomplish the same task. Maggie

Thanks Maggie. The only problem with multiply is, is that it'll make the entire layer transparent rather than just the surrounding color.

I did come up with a good way to do this earlier though. The magic eraser :D Using it with Contiguous checked, to make sure I didn't erase any of the glow on the letters. You just click the white and it's gone. :) Here's the finished result

the edges are still a little more jagged than I'd like them to be, but still looks good.

Transparent Png

Hi: Did this using Background Eraser, with Tolerance at 50%, much more accurate using cross hair with BG Eraser than Eraser.

FWIW
