This is only one way to make a Color change.

Duplicate original, turn original off.
Remove the white BG of the duplicate.
Create a new layer below duplicate and fill with white.
Highlight the duplicate layer.
Add a Hue & Saturation adjustment layer. Clip to the layer below by hitting the clipping icon on the bottom left of the H&S window. Select colorize, adjust sliders to your liking.

You may have to add a Curves adjustment layer to pull down the shadows.
