Making a figure of 8 shape

Hi guys, newbie here.
Used photoshop a few times before (succesfully!), and need to knock up something involving a infinity loop/symbol, or figure of 8 on it's side. It needs to have a certain shape or thickness. I'm sure i'd figure it out after a few hours, but haven't got the time for that..

If anyone could help with rough instructions it'd be much appreciated!

wouldnt the easy option be to just uste the type tool do the number 8 and then rotate it 90 degrees you can then add a stroke etc to it to get the thickness you want
