Illustrator Make it vector

I am a PS person, and use AI very rarely. I have a 72dpi image that I need to be 300dpi vector. Can you tell me how to get the best quality so I don't see the squared off edges from the PS file? And what else I need to do to make this happen.

In Illustrator: Make a new document at the 300 PPI. Open the logo and do image trace at B&W Logo setting.
