Maintaining layer effects when saving logo

I have an image with two layers of text, both with effects, and a single background layer. When I save the image as .png using "save as" or "save for web", the logo looks different than it does in Photoshop. It looks like the bottom layer's drop shadow is being removed. I've searched around online and found a few other posts with similar issues, but none of those suggestions worked for me. I could simply flatten the image onto the black background (and this does save the image as it looks in PS), but I would like to save the text without the background.

As recommend in other posts, I've tried deleting the background first, merging the two text layers using "merge layers" and "merge visible", rasterizing them, and saving them as-is without merging/rasterizing. I'm hoping someone here can tell me what I'm doing wrong

Have you tried making a layer below the text layer and merging those? This will "flatten" the layer effects into an image or "rasterize" the layer.

i would like to take a look too. just a few hours ago i had worked on logotipe with bottommost shadow. no such problem.

Did this issue get resolved? I am having the same issue.

I have tried rasterizing, adding layer and merging those and saving in the required PDF format without merging text layers, linking the layers and trying all of the above. Always, I lose the outer glow and bevel.

Just a thought, try removing all global light settings in both layer styles before merging.

Bevel and Eboss
Inner Shadow
Drop Shadow

All have Global light settings. Turn them off. Both layer styles.

Thanks IamSam, I tried it, although it did not fix my problem.

ibclare, I already had tried the merging of layers, that is where I lose the effects...prior to saving it. Thank you though, I also took your advise and purged all my preferences, still to no avail.

Very aggravated with this. I just can't understand why some layers are fine and others are not. There is actually a layer with outer glow that does not lose it's effect when merging. Grrrr!

AHA! I found a solution! Effects must be added after rastrization and more than what is apparently wanted. I added more to opacity & size on outerglow and more to opacity of shadow and size to bevel. Once merged the excess was washed out and it finally looks like what I wanted. Doesn't make sense, yet it worked.

Well, I'm glad you found a workaround solution. It still shouldn't be necessary but it isn't any more steps or maybe one. To be honest, I haven't worked much with pdf, so if someone has, maybe there is some advice we're missing.
