My wife keeps asking me for a device on where she can edit photos right on the screen. There is the cintiq which will meet her expectations but the cost as we need to get another laptop for her as well. Are there any laptops on the market that have the same or similar features to the cintiq in which she can edit the photos on the laptop screen with a pen etc. Basically an all in one device?

Thanks

Hi...

None that I know of. But that's just me..... Dunno if other's are in the know.

But you can try get the WACOM Bamboo... a lot cheaper than Cintiq most especially at Amazon.

I bought her one and she didn't care much for it, she wanted to edit right on the screen, on the picture. I seen fujitsu Tseries have active displays (convertible laptops) but have no clue on how they work for photo editing..

Thanks

There are various versions of the Cintiques, starting at 12 inches and up from there. Also there are some older Wacon touch-screen things on ebay that may also help.

Check out some of the Tablet PC's such as the Samsung, pretty powerful too, just make sure they meet the specification Photoshop requires. Lots of options, just need to know what's out there.

Try the Asus Touch Screen PC... it works like a desktop PC but has a complete touch screen interface so your wife can edit pics right on the screen ...

On these asus pcs or related convertible laptops, is the screen and pen techonology on the cintiq the same as the laptop?

Not sure, but I would imagine there would be differences in the touch sensitivity consider the Cintique is something like 2048 levels of touch, not sure about the tablet pc's but I would have thought they wouldn't be as much as that. I was messing with a HP touchscreen PC in PC World last week and that was actually quite nice to use, and that was with a finger tip. You can get stylus type pens for use with normal touch sensitive screens too so may be the way forward.
