Hi guys! I've recently started to get a portfolio running and everything went along fine untill someone said. "Hey, you need a logo for your site!" And I have like no inspiration then it comes to things like that. So I tried to browse around and try to find out what kind of logos I like and found out that I like clean and rather simple ones. Escpecially if they are somehow round and pointy at the same time. I wanted my initials to be included which is C and D since I dont have a company name for my own buisness. So what did I come up with? I dont have axcess to the font map inside windows on my work computer, so for this test I've been printscreening the font text just to play around.

What do you guys think? Is it horrible? Does it make any sense? What could be better? If you have any ideas and feel like giving it a try then please do. This is a area I realy struggle with and take all the help I can get.

Cheers!

I like the idea. Especially the twin chevron forms for the c and d. I played around with the idea. I don't know if it's any "better." I was trying to make the c and the d stand out as separate letters more. But it may not be necessary. Anyway, here's my tweak; didn't set it up to get the line thickness perfect and a few other things t/o these, but just for ideas. (but don't ever let anybody's opinion influence you to change something you really like -- whether you're "wrong" or not, lol! who's to say what's wrong and what's right if you like it and it suits your needs)

Here is without the black outline. I like the negative space. Maybe you should play with emphasizing that neg space, maybe have it echoed in the BG - if you know what I mean. Instead of the mountain shape, try a space that plays off the letters more.

Thanks ibclare! Those are great ideas, especially the last one. I dont know if I personally would go with those colors but that the way you did it realy gave it another dimension to it without making it look heavy. It might be a little bit to abstract for some, but I like it. I guees people realy wont be able to look at it and see the connection to my name, and I somehow guees it's quite important for a logo if it's gonna stand on it's own without context. But I realy like it, it's a like a piece of art ready to be hanged on the wall! Thanks for taking the time!

Sprucemagoo1, these are also wonderfull. The first one is perfect, simple and now then I think it about it! It almost looks like a camera lens or an eye without going to far with it, it's simple but effective? Maybe there possibillity to envolve it further but still keep. Hard, but I realy dig it! The second one reminds me of Warner Broos, maybe it's just me haha. It stands out more then the first one but in the same time it also looses the resemblance with a lens/eye that I likes with the first one.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked my portfolio. It's a little bit outdated so thats why I'm trying to come up with both a new logo and a new template which is brighter, cleaner and gives a better view. I've gotten some critic on my crrent portfolio that it is to dark and somehow hard to navigate. I know from personal experience that if I dont find what I'm looking for after opening a homepage in couple of seconds, the chance of closing it very quick is big. Also, giving a quick variaton of the images I think improves the chances for a visitor to actually click on one of the pictures instead of seeing the first two and then close! Anyhow, this is the template I'm thinking about buying http://www.wpexplorer.me/premium/photopro/masonry-homepage/

SPWA, ahh! I can see you spotted the eye thingu aswell. Thats a good thing!

Thanks again guys for taking time and helping me out!

It would be a bit of an arse to do, but well worth it I think. What about have each of those picture 'tiles' on your home page as image sliders, but each slider changes the pictures at different rates and at random. This way, although the grid for the images will stay the same, it will always look different and will most importantly, show more art without having to scroll or change page.

Here is the Illustrator file for the logos. Hope you have Illustrator.

Thats a good idéa, if it's an easy fix I will look into it. My programming days are left behind. I wich there was a way of trying the template out before buying it to realy know it's what you are looking for, but in a way. It's not that much of money and hopefully it goes to someone who be able to make a living out of it and continue creating new templates!
Thanks Spruce. I dont have it at work but I belive I have it installed on my PC (Thats how often I use Illustrator on my own haha)

Tx Dalkaris, the colors were arbitrary starting with the palette you had. Anyway, I know you will come up with something on your own. I like sprucemagoo's; very simple and recognizable. However, since the C & D will be explained by the info on your site, I think your chevrons are recognizable, as I said, they need to look a bit more like letters IMHO.

I rather like the ambiguous quality, but if it is a trend (didn't realize that), then I say, don't go with the trendy.

I hope you'll post your final logo here, even though it will be on your website. It will remind me at least! Senile as I am becoming

Cheers, Aunty Clare
