Hello!

I am not much of a Graphics or Photoshop Guru, but I try. I had attempted to create and design a simple text logo for my WordPress Blog. I am hoping people can give me some feedback, maybe with some suggested modifications to make it look better. And trust me, it's much welcome.

Below is my logo, or at least what I think is a logo.

White-Text is " Urban and Zone " and Red-Text is " xXx "....

I see what you are trying to do, but the result is flat. Everything is the same size and so it is less dramatic. I presume the dimensions of the rectangle are what you require. Yes? The bevel & emboss is so subtle as to be almost nonexistent -- maybe softens the edges.

What do you think of this?

I think the white letters may be too stark, so I tried adding a gradient.

Okay ! Wow! Looks nice, real nice. Is this a freebie or do I have to pay? Would love to know how to get the same result....

No, it's a freebie, lol. I don't imagine your wordpress blog is bringing in a big income. If I'm wrong, sure you can pay me royalties! There ya go, royalties, rofl. OK, so anyway . . .

The font is from dafont.com, called "slant," under techno>various. The U and the rban are done separately as are the Z and the one. I don't like rasterizing the type if not necessary. I've changed the tracking/kerning because I thought the letters were spaced too closely for this.

The "Xs" are ethnocentric and I'm not sure where I got it, but I'd just google it.

The Urban Zone text has a simple gradient overlay layer effect, black to white, default settings.

Here are some screen captures of the layer effects for the "Xs." Incidentally, the BG Xs are a darker, greyer red to make them recede a bit. Capital X is e70200 or websafe, cc0000. The other is bb100f; websafe, ff0000.

Thank you very much.... Helps a lot.... I hope others learn from this and can use it for future reference....

I'd recommend learning Illustrator for logos. I used to do everything in Photoshop, but for logos and stuff, definitely go with Illustrator.
