I am using PS CS5 Extended.

I have a little expereience with Photoshop, but my lack of knowledge about this basic task makes me feel real foolish.

I want to make a composite photo of two different people and place them on a new background. I have no problems with creating the masks I desire, but I do not know how to load each on separate layers of the same project. Every time I try to load, drag or place the image, I get a new and different worksheet. I just cannot get the three pix into one layer assembly.

I have done a fair amount of research and reading, but for some reason I go completely brain-dead about this. I feel it is a simple and basic skill.

Could someone step me through the process. I would truly appreciate it.

All responses appreciated. TIA.

I think what he wants is merge the layers to 1 layer, if that is the case try this

OK. I have found an answer. There may be others, but for now this works for me.

Once I have set up the workspace and opened the background image of choice, I open a new layer. I disable viewing the background, and all I have to do now is "Place" whatever new image I desire on the new layer. I can do this as often as I want, I think.

Of course, I have to make what ever adjustments to the "placed" images beforehand and save them appropriately.

Now I am going to learn about the Bridge options. I believe that is the way to assemble all relevant images in one place. This is a great advantage.

So thanks to those who replied to me and tried to help --- and to those who even read the post. For sure it got me thinking properly.

Thanks again.
