Oh the dreaded fonts,yup admit it they are a nightmare at times
I'm wondering who has a handle on them? My library is pretty hugh with bought and free stuff I loaded some pretty clean font from adobe but they don't show up in the font menu for some reason. I really need a font guru to
walk me thru the best way to organize them. I bouht suitcase fusion 2 but the osx fontbook keeps taking over when I install new fonts I guess I need a good book or study on this. FONTS!!! Is it me or are they just a PITA

Have continue this on computer tomorrow itouch doesn't cut it lol
 
It's usually because your library is so big they fail to all load at once sometimes... What i did to fix this was remove fonts i never used, i actually removed all but the factory Windows fonts and just added the ones i wanted instead of adding a whole folder full and winding up with fonts id never use or didn't like...

As for the one piece of software taking over, you may be able to goto it's settings and turn it off as a default, if it's running as a default to do certain task, that's exactly what it will do...
 
I use Extensis Suitcase Fusion (they make it for Mac and Windows) to manage fonts. It's brilliant and you can "activate" and "deactivate" fonts on the fly. They show up instantly in Photoshop when you activate them in Suitcase without even restarting the program, and when you are done you can deactivate them to clear out your Font list.

Another good font manager is Printer's Apprentice... I used this for a while before Suitcase was available for Windows.
 
got suitcase and font doctor installed can I delete fontbook (osx default program) without problems I do not see that I can add Suitcase to plugins on Ps looks like it only will work with CS4
 
Been working with Suitcase but the Adobe fonts are not opening in Ps ......activated them also they are there in Suitcase but Ps doesn't see them and yes they are from Adobe legit fonts something strange going on here......... KRF hasn't been here lately........who can I blame now?:evil::mrgreen:
anyone have a suggestion?
 
Hey iDad, I don't think it would be wise to remove the default font manager from your OS.

What version of Suitcase Fusion are you using? I think it was in a semi-recent update that they added the "live activation" feature for Adobe apps. If you can update to the latest version try re-installing it and when asked if you want to install the Adobe plugin make sure you say yes.

Otherwise you have to close Photoshop and open it again to get the newly activated fonts to appear.
 
Did you turn off the make Suitcase Default option?? Does it even have one? Why not uinstall Suitcase and start over?? I know starting over can sound like a pain in the @ss but it can be very beneficial sometimes..

did not see a "live activation" anywhere during reinstall or menu .I'll try one more time to uninstall reinstall.........fonts....what a headache

didnt see an option for default for it ..gotta do some home work on thus......ugh!
 
Okay I have all my fonts working except for Adobe fonts. They will not show in the available fonts Sample drop down ....They are in the font library with everything else but they just don't become available to use.............I need a font guru!
