Leave it to those crazy Canadians!

If this is for real, and it seems likely, it is a Pandora's box. In this goofy world we live in, a technology such as this will first be exploited for paranoid reasons with the destructive purposes maximized.

The inventor is inspired but politically naive. I'm afraid he is in line for the "I'd rather have been a plumber" award. (Albert Einstein's comment after the atomic bomb was used.)

Yeah i agree with your take on it Welles.
This guy has a lot of inventions, this being the most ground breaking one. I don't think the attention he got from his other inventions has prepared him for what this one will bring.

\:] Oh oh...... here's some more on the dude http://www.improb.com/news/2001/nov/troy-terrorists.html seems he's a very busy inventor of VERY ODD STUFF. [confused]

IF his latest invention is really capable of what has been written about it (at present I don't believe it...but strange things do happen...and then there's Tessla's inventions...... \:] ) we're going to be hearing a round or two of "blame Canada!" :bustagut: Sorry Mark! ;)

Yeah the "bear proof suit"... that's an old invention. He's had that one for quite some time now. He's got like, 3-4 versions of it.

Another invention of his that's much more practical... is a fire retardent material that can be used to coat a house with, then washed off afterward with plain ol' water. It looks kind of like a mud pack once applied.
He thought of it after the Okanagon had that devestating run of wild fires last year. People and insurance companies could've saved millions in losses if he'd invented that a year prior.

The guy's a tad 'out there', but he sure keeps busy being creative. Bravo i say. :} :righton:

This invention is a little disturbing. With the technoloy that this thing can posess, and see through, I am amazed that the Pentagon hasn't tried to get at him yet. This is spooky stuff.

If it's real...

\:] :B

Interesting [saywhat] ! Mark thanks for posting. Some sub-minaturization is going to be required-- Doesnt look real practical for foot soldiers to carry around. Don't tell Rumsfield about this possibility we got enough wars going on. [honesty]

Absolutely amazing. His angel light reminds me of Tesla's orgone experiments. The negative effects seem to mimic what Tesla claimed about his "death ray."

Xcuse me, but Tesla's game was, amongst other things, to use the energy from the ionosphere (they have taken up his plans) by buidling a network of towers all over the world. He stopped because he calculated (and this long before chaos math calculated that for example Mercury's orbit is extremely unstable) that it could destabilize the Earth's orbit and send her off like a comet into space.
It was Wilhelm Reich, a pupil of Freud who talked about Orgone, the blue light of Life's energy (I saw it: it is real) withwhich he said he could heal diseases. Of course, he was convicted to spend some time in an American jail where he -"luckily"- died. Just like Osho (Bhagwan Sree Rajneesh) died shortly after a visit to the same institute. And the Brigado Rosso members fell out the window during examination by Italian police. And Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof commited suicide in their jail. Etc etc.

Reich was very "in" before people got interested in the sexual part of Tantra Yoga. (Tantra is in fact more working with what is given because everything is part of the reality in which we live). Energy meditation is *very* powerful and should not be undertaken without a real guide (who went through the whole set of experiences her/himself).

Exactly right, Erik. In what seems now to be another life, I was fascinated by Tesla and Wilhelm Reich's work among others. Reich is one of the great geniuses of recent times whose work will remain alive but was rejected by mainstream paranoid culture as individual perception was the substrate, rather than the collective mass psychosis which passes for civilization.

His studies and discoveries offended every entrenched cultural power base from the AMA to the FBI and other 'security' (read the professions of paranoia) agencies. Ultimately they banned his books and then burned them (yes book burnings in the 'free' USA in the mid fifties), threw him into jail on trumped up charges, the real issue being that he wouldn't knuckle under to blind authoritarian rule, and may have had even a greater hand in killing him.

However, if anyone wishes to experience for themselves the reality of Orgone energy, it is quite simple. Go to the beach, or anywhere really, on one of those days which is really 'sparkling'. You know, maybe in spring just after a storm when the air is clear and everything just seems to sparkle. Unfocus your eyes so they are looking straight ahead, not focussed at a convergent point. This is the same capacity it takes to view the MagicEye 3D images.

So. On one of the brilliant days, go out and look at the sky with your unfocussed view. You will see a field of little pinpoints of light with a blue glow emerge into your field of view, go through a spiral path and seem to disappear. That's Orgone energy, as Wilhelm Reich called it. It is not reflected light but rather energy emerging straight into our 'reality' which is why the unfocussed eye business.

I've gone on to extrapolate that it is the same energy that the Chinese have called Chi or Qi and the Indian cultures have called Prana.

My next description is rooted in, but a significant departure from Reich's actual studies and descriptions, as I read all his works nearly thirty years ago. But think of this. The universe in which we live isn't solid, rather it is a process of continuing creation. An analogy for consideration is that the reality we perceive is a picture, similar to the image you are seeing on your monitor right at this moment. Without the constant flow of energy to keep creating the image on your screen refreshed, it disappears. Our world is similar except that it has a very high refresh rate.

Now what Reich was tapping into was an energetic spectrum of this continuing creation in which there is pre-material energy, then the energized matrix which we call matter (called solid and all sorts of terribly inexact but comforting terms), and finally what we call 'energy' is usually after-matter-energy. We burn something and get heat and light, we assemble enough material from the unstable end of the entropic scale of matter so it almost explodes and boil water to use the steam (so called nuclear energy), and so forth. Reich wanted to focus on the pre-material energy. The one which he identified and worked with he called Orgone.

Whoops... I've just gone off the deep end. Sorry about that but I've really spent most of my life studying the nature and structure of reality and this thread just seemed to open the speculative floodgates. 8D

Cheers!

mmmmmmm Welles - pretty deep and interesting. Thanks for your explanations. I just received and viewed The Elegant Universe DVD's -- they lead me into a world of "string theory" which was fascinating--among other things, they too point up there may be dramatic realities, right here on earth, that we are not able to preceive at a conscious level.

The best example of our inability to precieve what might be out there, is when this CD begins, the instructor is standing at a blackboard explaining an equation, he keeps looking at something and repeating himself - like he knows he is not getting through. Finally the camera pans over ...he is talking to a dog who has a curious look on his face! Different species have different realities!

Welles: finally!

This is the kind of thing I love to read.

Sometimes I'm a bit frightened that those book burning days will come again in the near future.
Just read a published document that should have been kept secret ( www.timesonline.co.uk ) that clearly states how a trap was set for Saddam so as to get a reason why a war could be started.
Add him to the list... (not saying he is good or bad, only that many civilians died for no other reason than powerful pople wanting to have a war.)

I still have a few books by Reich somewhere...
Remember the Orgone accumulator?

Remember Flogiston?

Ahhh...Chi...I've been practising Tai-Chi for quite a while, and some of the Chi-Qong (energy) exercises are very powerful indeed. The moment you feel that center in your belly (in other words: leave your head)...to me it happened on my bike after two hours of intense Chi-Qong with a teacher. Wowww...

Another of those "bizarre" scientists is Rupert Sheldrake. Knowing the brain is more a filter of experiences than a memorybank, his theory that memory is more of a field than a material thing is very fascinating. Some of his examples and replies are great.

Like to that pathologist who stated that it still was true that he never found a soul in all the bodies he had dissected in his long career. Sheldrake answered: "I've taken apart quite a few television sets, but I never found a speaker or an actor in one."

Unfortunately, here my English falls short...

I copied your text and added it to my important documents to read it again and again.

;) Excellent point, Joy. Imagine being able to see in the ultraviolet spectrum like the hawk and other birds (this being a most important tool used by raptors to see the trails of rodents on the ground while in flight) as well as insects' ability to see in this spectrum helping them find the correct plants....or to sort information through the sense of smell as well as a bloodhound and so many other creatures......or hear the frequencies of sound like so many animals do that is beyond our hearing structure to detect....and even the remarkable abilities and senses of the creatures of the sea should be considered....... Yet we value more our copying of these abilities through our inventions, or any of our technology.

With our limited eyesight and other senses, seeing/believing is only partly revealing of the world around us...and for all our ego in thinking we understand so much, mankind has forgotten the most important things about life and just living.

The supreme ego of humankind and total lack of humility before "nature" is stunning.

We will reap what we sow.

Raven - thanks for pointing out all the realities. I have often thought, the critters know more about us than we know about them.

\:] -- and their physical capabilities can exceed the best bionic man.

IMO = For everything its "reality"/perceptions of the world around it is a product of its physical form...and that's different varying from species to species, individual to individual even so, with experiences unique to each.

It's interesting when humankind thinks itself capable of understanding everything though, or being the only thing really important here on this world, and it's perceptions and ideas being superior to all else. Things are just perceived a certain way for us in this form here, but maybe we're not the most perceptive beings, maybe we haven't "figured it all out" -- maybe we're just the most chatty about what we think we know. :bustagut:

Enjoy your reality! Life will be for each of us what we decide to make of it. 8D
"So long and thanks for all the fish!" ;)

Erik, you are quite right about Wilheim Reich being the discoverer of orgone energy. I had a slip of the mind when I credited Tesla. For some reason I often confuse these two men with each other.

Orgone energy is an interesting phenomena that unfortunately does not seem to be being explored by mainstream scientists. I have seen it do some amazing stuff. In a demonstration (at Ohio University with a graduate student working on a thesis) I saw a man direct the clouds of the sky like a dog would herd sheep.

Welles, interesting stuff.

Interesting and profound comments by all, but is any one worried about it's applications? I mean military aside (there always inventing way to kill/distroy) How about Big Brother? Ever since 9/11 American civil liberties has been shrinking, Imagine what the FBI can do with such a gizmo.

Wow! Man you lot really surprise me here?! [saywhat]

Never knew we had such a 'heady' group in our bunch. hahaa :bustagut: I'd love to sit down over a java and talk more about these subjects. As i also have never lead on that i enjoy these subjects very much. :D

I've been reading, for several years, an excellent book called "The Cosmic Code -- Quantum Physics as the Language of Nature." by Heinz R. Pagels
It's a great read, i recommened it to everyone of you who enjoy this subject matter. It's where i first learned about Hadrons, Quarks, & Gluons. 8D
You'll be surprised at how "plain english" the author explains quantum physics and how the world around us actually works/functions, and how it was created. A lot of the material is explained through a simple comparrison method. Making real world simple comparrisons to explain physics. I love it.

Here's the publishing info in case anyone can use it:

circa 1982
A Bantam New Age Book
ISBN 0-553-24625-9

Simon & Schuster reprinted it 3x: twice in '83 and last in '84.

I've also read up a fair bit on Tesla when in my teens, but not so much on Reich. I'll try and find some material on him as i think i'd enjoy reading what he was up to.

I was also very much into Wicca and all things occult when i was in my teens. That included most sciences "of the mind" as well. I love this kind of stuff. I agree very much with Joy and Raven's viewpoitnts as well. In fact, i think you guys were too kind to the human animal. I'm not so optimistic of our ways. Here's a thought... what if other animals do in fact possess contious thought? But their contious thought and reasoning is unlike ours; due to the fact that their existence is so unlike ours. Perhaps that's why we don't 'see' that and can't understand it enough to 'see' it?
I feel that our species is so trapped inside our own heads we can't see out past our noses far enough to really grasp what's going on around us; with the rare exception of a few 'free thinkers'.

Anywho... carry on folks i'm finding this quite stimulating. :} 8))

:righton: Mark! I too have read science's explanation of much of these topics, and then other views also which tie into the "esoteric." But I don't lean totally to either side, I also have had experience with Wicca, Voodo, etc., that is incredible, but I find, imo, that these things are possible from both views (such as what an apparatus like the "Angel Light" could do), and that while it's all fine in the discovery of such, I'm just worried about what humanity will do with such "discoveries." We can be just so full of ourselves and impressed with our own power to change and control nature and the world that we don't stop to think about whether we should be doing such things or what the consequences can be.
(p.s. and yes, I do think other animals possess conscious thought, but where their lives are different from ours they relate to things differently, but there are many things we share in common with them and understanding between us is very possible with many species.)

If a technology can help to control or give power to some, especially government, over others we will use it...and unfortunately, like Nitro says (my view is with his on this), our track record with that and all that's going on now in this country is a major cause for concern for all, imo. There might be good ways to use this invention, but we always seem to find the bad ones as well. This sort of technology could very well be misused and not very "Angelic" in the end at all. We are very shortsighted.

Others will no doubt say that a discovery/technology like this would be eventually developed somewhere else too -- and no matter what we would like, it will get used, so that we need to get this first and use it first in order to prevent others possibly using it against us. That's a bad excuse, imo.

Yes, it would be a good thing for humanity to take a look at what it's really doing to both itself with all this technology and the effect it has on every living thing on the planet, because we are all tied together, we are all one. Imo there are no "lesser" beings here, just different ones, and if we, in our lust for control of nature and people, make the planet unliveable for all and our lives held hostage by technology then we've really committed a major crime...imo.

Responsibility. It's too easily forgotten in the excitement of our tinkering with science. There's always those who say, "I will take responsibility for it," but those are just empty words which fix nothing after the damage is done.
