Hi,
I keep having unpredictable behaviour from Photoshop CS6 on a macbook pro, regarding opening layers in Camera Raw.
According to the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book, once I have opened the camera Raw image in Layers, I should be able to right click on the image and the option- New Smart Layer via Copy, should pop up, giving me two totally separate layers( marked IMG_3846 copy and IMG-3846). From there I should be able to click on either one and it will open in Camera Raw.
But...this only happens at odd times.
The rest of the time, the Layers have a partial lock next to the image. The only way I have found to get around this is to right click..convert to Smart Object..and then >New Smart Object via Copy> this then gives me two layers(marked Layer copy0 and layer 0). When I click on either of these however, they do not open in Camera Raw but a pop up message appears stating:
After editing the contents, choose File> Save to commit changes. Those changes will appear upon returning to IMG_384.JPG
The file must be saved to the same location. If the Save As dialog appears, choose Cancel, and flatten the image before saving.
This leads to two completely different copies that I cant use in Layers.
Does any one know how I can continuously get only the first description?
I hope you can understand this.
Thank you.
