layer to shape layer?

Hello

I want to know how can I transform a regular layer to shape layer. (I don't want to define new shape just create shape layer). With selection tool I draw little cross and painted with black color now I want change this layer to shape look at the picture

A shape layer uses a path so you need to turn the selection you made into a path. Do this by right clicking and select Make Work Path... With the path selected add a solid color adjustment layer. It will give you a shape layer.
