i used photoshop alot in high school and if memory serves me right there is a way to set the lasso that it dose a nice outline. is there a way to do this with pixlr by chance?

You might be thinking of the magnetic lasso tool. (hidden behind the lasso) It "sees" contrast and snaps your line to the contrast as you draw around your object.
