lasso tool reverting to circle after selection

im trying to lasso a face using a sort of heart shape , when i use the lassoo tool and join the shape it reverts to a circle , any ideas ??

all good ive fixed it , had feathered set to 32 percent , not sure why , ive never changed it before at least i dont think so , set it to zero and all good
