Hi all...

Keeping in tradition with me trying different things i thought i would give it a go at making a pre-made background/landscape...

Hopefully its good enough that people would want to use it ? without the water mark that is.

Hey inky, I really like this image! It's comp is constructed very well and the colors are fantastic! The only thing off to me is the lighting/shadow on the Lighthouse that's not consistent with the implied light source of the setting sun. You could add to and thereby move the shadow line that appears on the Lighthouse making it appear more like the light source was more behind it instead of in front of and high to the right.

I think it would look better if the left side of the lighthouse was as straight as the right, and the slight halo effect between the wheat fields and sky were dealt with.

Is the something about the image - why would a lighthouse be in the middle of a farm instead of by the sea?

A sea of grass. It's really cool, surrealism and all. I can't believe I kept looking and wondering what the something was. Got too focused on the technical stuff and missed the whole picture. Never even struck me as odd! Thanks Chad; I like it even better now.

Hi all and thanks for the comments...

I re did it straight away as i notice the shadow on the light house, i also notice (to me any way) that the lines in the grass were out of perspective so i reduce them. I re align the light house as pointed out by sprucemagoo1. Also there were was dark brown area on the grass just the left and down from the light house and one to far left that i removed. I also used the blur tool on the horizon.

sprucemagoo1... understand about a light house in a field. ( strange i know. but that's me ). I have made this as a pre made background for a surreal manipulation that people can use to add things to.. you could always remove it if you didn't it to be there.

Your work is your own idea mate, masterpieces have weird anomalies within them. It's down to the artists own mind what we all see, great changes mate.

Well well well Inky...

The original image is better than the updated one..

I believe the shadow in the first makes more sense than in the second version. Looking at the angle of the sun, it seems more correct in the first.

Also, I did spot one issue. The lighthouse windows seem to be catching light on the left side... I'm not sure the sunlight would get around that far.

Tip top, might even use it if I ever do another manip.

Concept's good, inkpad. I prefer the second tho the shadow looks to blotched and spreads to the surrounding most especially on the hills in the background. make the umbra subtle- less spread out.

I now look like the elephant man... i have bang my head on the ward desk so much and that hard over this image that my head is full of lumps.

Staff put me back in the jacket, and then to top it all in the room at the top of the lighthouse where i can't be found by anyone.

What they don't realize is that i am the one holding the mouse in Photoshop and can remove the lighthouse at any time to set myself free..

I suppose i better re do it first , so all the staff are happy with it.. Not that your all in here with me that is. But i sometimes wonder.

Don't redo it...

Do another, but with the knowledge you've learnt from this piece.

If you keep going back to fix it here and fix it there, you will be banging your head on a brick wall.

Here here Inkz! Always move forward and make it a rule to only do corrections on a piece twice.
Nice piece inkpad. :)

I think we all have made the mistake of changing a piece too much, in the end, it looks nothing like it did in the original lol..

Fresh canvas and fresh ideas will prevent you from going mad...

oh wait, too late lmao :bustagut:

Agreed, I've done it myself. I know people are trying to be helpful, but it ends up destroying self confidence with too many suggestions. No matter how may time you fix something, someone always had another little tweak they think you should make.
