I have worked in the inhouse graphics department for a manufacturer of scientific instruments since almost the beginning of desktop publishing, and jumped into Photoshop with version 2. I stopped upgrading at version 6, since it met my needs and I didn't relish jumping onto the "suite" bandwagon. Now I'm thinking retirement thoughts and need to start getting things in shape for an eventual handoff, so I recently got current versions of InDesign, Illustrator (I've been a Freehand wonk), and Photoshop.
I've been working some in the new Photoshop, but essentially with the same methods I've used in the older version. My main work is with product photos, fixing blemishes and correcting color and exposure, and optimizing them for web or print. Compositing comes up occasionally.
I'm looking for tips about what newer features I might find most useful. Selection, masking, automated corrections, etc.
Thanks in advance!
