I work a lot in Lr but go to Ps to do the heavy lifting, which is probably why I've just begun to notice that when I select the jpg option file gets saved as a jpf. When did that change and why? I read a little about jpf but can I use it like jpg. so jpf files work just like jpg files?

Hi Mike, when you save a file in photoshop you can choose the type of file, the one you mention jpg 2000 is just below the normal jpg, so you just need to select that one when you save.

Hi Argos, thanks for responding.

On my system, the jpg option appears, as you describe, but only in the Save a copy option.

I learned that after hitting the Info icon, but I have to wonder why this universal default has been tucked away under save a copy. Why did they take it off the Save as list?

That I dont know, I found it weird at first, but it does the same as before only in a different way ... so I didn't worry too much to look it up.

Mike - I've read about this issue before and just looked into it again. It seems to be a feature/bug - depending how you view it - with the PS 22.4 version. Adobe blames it on Apple and Apple blames it on Adobe and Windows users get caught in the scuffle. There is a new version 22.4.2 but I don't know if that "fixes" the issue.

You can read about it here:

Seems like the best workaround is just use "Save a copy" then go in and change the file name manually.

Who said technology isn't fun!
