Is there better than gussian blur for blending edges with the background ?

Hi Friends I have a picture has hard edges and I was able to blend these edges using lasso, mask and then Gaussian blur please check attached picture. is there a another way can produce better result or that result is enough ? Thanks alot

Image is too small to give a honest answer for you mate.
 
this may help.make your desired selection in shape you want using any convenient toolgoto select-modify-feather and insert desired feathering amount that depends of your image resolution 5 ussualy works with mehit Ctrl+J to make another softened edges layer
