Is it still worth getting Elements 6 for Mac?

At the moment I am using the free Gimp software. This does most of what I need, but I have seen Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac going relativly cheap. I know it's not the latest version (which I doubt could run on my old OS 10.4 PPC G5 anyway) but is it going to be better than Gimp, or would it be a waste of money?

I hope to get a better understanding of photosop, and follow some of the many tutorials out there. These rarely refer to Gimp, which functions differently, and so are of little benefit.

All advice is gratefully appreciated.
 
Can't say that name here mate, the photoshop police will have you in irons honest.........Any version is better than nothing - hell i only have cs2 and paint built into my computer.
