Invisible/Diagonal line going through canvas

I have this weird issue that I've never seen before. There's some weird, invisible line that goes through the canvas but it's not necessarily a static line and it distorts whatever is in the canvas (makes it off-center). When I zoom in/zoom out or pan around the canvas, the line stays on the same section of my display, but it moves around on the canvas. It only happens in photoshop and I'm stumped as to what could be the cause of it. I tried disabling OpenGL and that didn't change anything. I'd like to post a picture, but I have to post at least 5 times on the forum before I can do that. If anyone has had this problem before or has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate the help as I can't do anything in photoshop unless this problem is fixed.

Hello,
can you see the line even when you close/minimise all other windows on your screen ? Once I had strange dots inside my Photoshop picture and they were caused by some graphic card error, they came from underlying window.
Best regards,
Peter

No, I can't see it any where other than inside the canvas in photoshop. It could be some graphics card error, but I haven't seen any other problems on my computer, so I can't really say. Thanks for the reply though.

Hi,
I could see my dots also only in Photoshop, but when I moved that window underneath, dots moved even in Photoshop. They were not anything obvious on that picture, but huge distraction in Photoshop. Did you try to get rid of all other windows ?
Best regards,
Peter

You can post anytime. It is only posting a link that you need extra posts for so that we know you are not a robot ;]. You can upload by going to the box with the tree in the reply window. Hover over it and you will see insert image and click on the from computer tab.

Welcome to the forum. :D

Ooopps, sorry, my bad, some things on the forum are still mysterious for me ;-)
Thank you,
Peter
P.S. And now I am totally confused, did we both with ibclare post into a wrong thread ? When I saw the response I have thought this is the thread where I asked whether person with two posts can upload, but it was not here, sorry I am too sleepy around midnight ;-)

Thanks ibclare. Well, here's what I'm dealing with and everywhere I marked is where the line is going through. I just made a zigzag with the brush so you guys can see it more clearly.

Hi,
what happens when you move the whole Photoshop window perpendicularly on the invisible diagonal and make a new line ? Will the line also move ? Will the old line move too ?
Thank you,
Peter

peta, as long as the canvas is present, there is always a line even if I move the window around in photoshop or fullscreen. Only one line, but it seems to stay in relatively the same place no matter how I pan around the canvas.

dv8_fx, I tried deleting the preferences like what it said in the link you posted and it didn't work.

This is so frustrating -_-

I am really sorry to hear that. If I understand you correctly, the line is also on the saved picture, you did not post just screen shot ? In that case I do not think it is a graphic card, it seems to me more on something in Photoshop. As much as it is pain I would try to reinstall.
Hope it helps,
Peter

Just a thought... Have you tried fixing an image and resaving it as a copy? and try resaving the original as a third copy.

I had experience of PS screwing up a save and I end up with either truncated file or something like yours.

If this doesn't work, try reinstall but I doubt whether it will clear the problem which may also be a graphics issue.... probably in settings.

It's funny when I normally save a file, let's say as a jpeg, there appears to be nothing wrong. It's only when I have a file opened in photoshop that this line will appear. I had to printscreen for both images to be able to show you guys on here, otherwise it would have looked normal. But I actually did try resaving some files and it's still happening.
