Interface Issue

This has driven me nuts for several years. I'm sure the answer is simple.
Currently I'm on PS CC but this goes back to cs5.
I'm tired of having to drag the images each time I move the main PS interface. There used to be a setting that would cause images to move when you moved the main PS window.

When you say, moving the main interface, do you mean you are wanting to move the view of the entire image? If so, hold down the space bar and it will give you the hand tool so you can move all.

Otherwise, I'm not sure and maybe someone else will understand your question.

Maybe the OP will be back to elaborate on the original question?

Mike, sorry about the ambiguity.
Ok - I open PS by clicking on it's icon on the task bar. Up it comes. Then I load an image. Now...I need to move the application with its image. The ap moves but the image stays where it is when first loaded instead of moving when I drag the ap to the left or right.
I hope that's clearer.

Ok - after watching the video clip it helped me to articulate the problem more precisely.
!. I've opened up 2 files
2. Per Preference selection they are tabbed.
3. I drag each one so they are both floating.
4. Now when I go up to the top border of the application itself - to move the application around on the monitor screen, the floating images do not move with the application

So what I want to be able to do is move the whole ap on the monitor screen with the floating images moving at the same time.

The reason I want this is because I may decide to open another ap such as Illustrator, and need to move photoshop over to the side. Currently when I move photoshop to a new position I then have to move the floating images as a second task. If I have, we'll say 4 files open, this can be a real pain.

I want the floating images to move at the same time as I'm repositioning photoshop.

I used to be able to do just that in some earlier version.

I just noticed the referral to 'application frame' and making sure it's selected. Well, it's not there at the bottom of the Windows menu. I'm on Win 7 64 bit. Can you tell me why it's not there? Is there something I have to select in Preferences? I know my problems would be solved having that feature available.

Gotcha . I can't help, but Sam hit it well.

I don't float my files, as they are tabbed, I can move the whole enchilada from screen to screen. That is why I don't float images.

I like besmirched's idea of changing the arrangement, but your still in a tabbed mode and this may not suit your needs.

OK, I'm not familiar with earlier versions of Ps but I have done some serious research into this and I can't find anything after CS4 that will allow you to drag/move the Ps application frame and the floating windows at the same time in CS6 without docking or consolidating the floating windows back to tabs.

Maybe someone else will know the secret trick to accomplishing this! Good luck!

Sam, I really do appreciate the time you've put into this issue of mind and it does look like I'll only be able to move the open images and the application at the same time by having them as tabbed images. But for one thing:
I do recall hearing or reading something about the application frame, when it is selected, will accomplish what I want to do. Unfortunately Application Frame is not at the bottom of the Windows Menu
Here's a partial quote from Steve, Adobe PS admin, replying to a user with the same issue as mine "The Application Frame places the entire Photoshop interface inside a self-contained application window, which is how it already works in Windows and why this feature is only available in the Mac version."
As I mentioned, this feature doesn't exist on the Windows menu.
If y'all are stumped as to how to get the Application Frame to appear in the Windows menu, I understand.
I thank everyone very much for putting the time into my first issue as a new member to this site.

Hey Rory, I hear ya!

I'm on a Mac as you may know and no matter what I try............ with the application frame selected from the Window menu, I can not move the floating windows by clicking and dragging the application frame unless they are docked to the application frame!

If I deselect application frame under the window menu, I cant move the application frame at all! Deselecting creates floating windows that I can move and reduce. The application frame can not be moved or reduced, via a reduction button, and disappears if I click on the desktop.

Again, as far as I know......it can't be done on a PC or a Mac!

As far as I know, what you want to do is not possible on PC or a Mac with or without this function with Photoshop versions after CS4.

Windows version of Photoshop already runs with the application frame active. A Mac version of Photoshop has the ability to turn off the application frame which is why it has this option.

Nobody is stumped. The feature was intentionally not added to the PC version of Photoshop and can not be added as a separate feature unless there's a plugin somewhere.

Well, Sam and the crew, let's put this issue to bed. You've all given a lot time and effort to this and I really, really appreciate your help. What a great board to be a part of.

THANK YOU!!!!

Rory

Unless you re-dock the floating windows with the main UI as tabs, I am not aware of any way you can drag all the windows together.
As far as I know, the only way round this, is the above advice from besmirched!

I really shouldn't start reading a thread, go watch a film, then answer the thread without refreshing the page.

Besmirched - I used to have 2 28" monitors and ran PS on one and InDesign or Illustrator on the other. It was wonderful. But due to matters beyond my control, I had to give them up. Now I'm using 1 24" monitor. Like I had to give up the farm for a city apartment.
Great suggestion,tho.
