Hey guys, the other day I made this logo for a shoe shopping company on 99Designs. I basically lost (he voted mine 1 star and said it was too basic) but I believe this design was very simple, yet effective. That is the way I prefer my logos, but obviously the client is my #1 priority. Anyway, please, as always, LEAVE FEEDBACK!!! Thanks.

Also, all I did was take a picture of some Nike sneakers and pentooled them with fill as black and then pentooled the "sole" part in red fill

No definition in the laces area or the sides. Just a black shape with a colored sole area, that's probably why they didn't like it.To basic It could be anybody's product.. IMO

Your pen tool work will improve over time, just do as much as you can. Basic & simple is good sometimes, but when you do that type of logo, it has to be awesome, or all you have is basic. I hope that makes sense.

Also, (and this is just my way of working a project). The client isn't your no.1 priority, they are your only priority. Make the piece in your style, but look at it from their point of view.

I also notice you have put the Insta-Sneaks piece on your website. (Nice site btw.) Just be careful with the 99 designs comps, that there is no NDA. Showing a company name but not actually being that company's logo may cause bother. :)

Apart from that.. stick at it.

Okay, yeah that makes sense. I hope this isn't considered bringing up an old post, I just got back from vacation.
