The past days I haven't done much in PS, mainly because I just haven't had any ideas pop into my head. So here is the question, what gives you people your inspiration when working on a project. Ideas used to come easy, but last 3 days I've drawn nothing blanks. Right now I'm rockin out to good 'ole country music and some hip/hop and r&b seeing if that will help. So far nothing.

When I start drawing blanks like that I usually distance myself from things for a while. Go for a hike, or just take a drive around areas I'm not familiar with. Seems like new areas and sights seem to reset my mind. Kind of like it makes my brain think and react in a new way which helps the creative side of my very little mind

Like Mitchell said, my little mind often needs airing out. No thoughts of any PS manipulations, etc. I love to hike and boulder hop. I'll take my dogs to the mountains or something like that and we'll play in nice clean air with nobody around. It does open my mind for ideas later. I also sometimes just take a vacation from PS - though that's difficult for a shopping addict!

Sometimes I'll work around a theme of interest, like my sisters inspired "modern madonna." I did a series based on songs that now and then run through my head (helps to exorcise them, lol). I definitely agree with fatboy. I use deviantarts for a majority of my Photoshop work. I'll go through, find artists I like, go to their galleries, and download a bunch of images to a folder with their name. Later I can go to those images and start to get ideas and put them together, maybe go searching for more to experiment with for the idea. I will on occasion open my fine art books and look at the artwork for ideas. Of course if you're a photographer or simply like to snap pics, there is a world of inspiration to be found there.

Whatever I do, I make it something of interest to me, a fantasy, a love, a hobby, the kind of reading I like, things like that.

Inspiration can't be forced, but there might be a 900 find ur muse line!

I like deviantart.com, I'm on there all the time. I've tried searching around that site to get ideas, but nothing really came to mind. I also like the idea of taking a hike or something to clear my head, but don't really know where to go in this town I live in. Would be easy back home. Also getting around with out a car in my town is pretty hard unless your only going a mile. For me music seems to help me think, that's why I listen to it when doing homework for school.

My suggestion was to download images you like, then forget about them. Later they may inspire you or be used in one of your inspirations. On the other hand, if you don't have inspiration for manipulations right now, let it rest. Use PS for other things. Play with photo restoration or retouching, explore things you haven't used yet, maybe HDR. Do more than one image for the challenges since they often call for manipulation. Find tutorials for text effects, special effects that appeal to you. Play around with 3D. Make a panoramic image using a few of your own photos or downloaded from a tutorial. And get your homework done!

Inspiration will come. It'll hit you at the weirdest time. Store it in your head and never be afraid to throw away one image that isn't quite working as you imagine it and start over. Just remember the 3Ps of PS: practice, patience and play. Enjoy!

On an external hard drive I have well over 3,000 photos from either google or a pack I downloaded so I know I have some that I haven't even seen yet really. I do have some photos that could use some help, would love to do HDR but that requires a different camera than what I have. I dunno if my little laptop will handle 3D, even though it's processor is more powerful than the one I had in my desktop. I'll be hitting a car show at the end of next month so I'll be taking tons of pics for sure. Last year I took around 270 before the batteries ran out, this year I'll try to have fresh batteries.

Life usually throws me an image idea several times a day usually, i have connections in low places:mrgreen:
