Inking a sketch

I have followed a couple tutorials on how to ink a scanned image in photoshop, but the problem I am having is on the pressure look. I do not want the same width lines, etc all the way through the paths, I would like the pressure effect to work on the lines, but I am not sure on how the thickness and direction of the paths works. Can anyone give me a little more insight on how to complete this task.
