Increasing the DPI of a .psd

I have already made this business card.. but the business card maker company tells me to increase the DPI to 600.. i am using an image of a car in it.. well how can i make the best(600) Dpi business card?? without making the whole thing all over again
 
You can't. But I would ask them why they need that resolution and if there are any other solutions.
 
There are a few new apps around which "supposedly" allow you to upscale images with no real recognizable loss in image quality,I am dubious of this claim myself,you could try one though.I cant think of the damn name sorry [stuned]

Genuine Fractals name of program

the program has a fractals function that smooths out enlargements of this sort. There's a demo download that should get you through the process. Visit http://www.lizardtech.com/

One way suggested on the yahoo photoshop list is to resize the image in 10% or so increments rather than just resizing in one process.

I find it a little hard to believe that you need to have 600dpi for a photograph on a business card. I think you could easily get away with 200 - 300 depending on how much of the graphic is on the card and how clear the graphic is. You usually want to go with vector for the text, but 600dpi seems unecessary for any graphics. I regularly printed 1/2 card pictures on business cards for companies at 150-250 dpi without any clarity issues.

What is the original dpi of the image and how much of the card is being taken up by it? Is this a standard 2 x 3.5 card?
 
well last night.. i just did one thing... that was enlarge the canvas.. and start all over again... made the business card big and emailed the Business card maker the PSD.. and it worked fine.. i guess she just wanted to enlarge the image a little cuz.. the "canvas"(for the business card) was set for 3.5 X2 before :shocked:
 
600 Dpi is a standard most printers use as a max nowadays. Though most of them are calibrated at 200 Dpi. Or 150. So yes, 200 to 300 should be more than enough. Especially for business cards. You should ask your customer if they plan on doing anything else with the image.
