Image Thumbnail Is In Color, The Image Is Black and White ?

I have a black and white image on my computer that when viewed as a thumbnail using Window Explorer and Irfanview displays it as i expected, black and white.

However, when i look at this thumbnail in XnView, it shows it in color. When i then open this image in any of the programs, it is always in black and white.

I dont understand how XnView can show this images original colors when in thumbnail view but reverts it to black and white when opened.

Is there a way to use Photoshop to open this image and then switch it back to color mode?

Are you sure your looking at the same image. Post an image of what your talking about.

I'm guessing XnView scanned your drive for images at some point and created thumbnails.
Some time after that you changed this image to B&W.

If there's an option try rebuilding the thumbnails in XnView.
