Illustrator to photoshop and back to illustrator.

I am making something in illustrator (vector). I save it as PDF and the open it in photoshop to put some effects and filters. Now i want to open it in illustrator to continue working on the vector. How should i save it in photoshop to do this?

why not save it as .ai? photoshop can use that as a vector, and remains editable

PS will rasterize the ai file, it will no longer be vector.

To stay editable, you export the paths back and forth.
