this is just plain dead round here lately
Almost like a strike against the freelance community, I do not mind losing a bid to someone. But not seeing ANY is getting pretty frustrating.
I know this is just small talk, but we are all in this together.
Anyone else seeing things change way to fast and know why?

It's like an old ghost town here too.

LOL I hearya....... why is it my post has ads in it but yours doesn't? new setting on the board? maybe by starting up some small talk about the boards will draw hits (no new topics,no searchbots or what ever they are called.)

It all happend when the forum was changes to the new layout, it's just to messy for the forum, so I guess people left, as that happen other new people haven't joined, thus making the forum dead.

Well done admin, way to kill a forum.

I got ripped off by a company wanting poker themed wallpapers, and after doing them, i did not get paid, and they still used the images. It also doesn't help when a lot of the people posting jobs on here, expect people to do them for free.

helping out with free work sometimes helps get your name out there, but it does get really annoying when you get a request that's very time consuming and they expect it for free or 5 dollars or less for hours of work
been ripped off many times.
Trust is hard to hold onto when it comes to some jobs, but you still need it, to be out here

I have been lucky... Worked for many, many clients freelance (all around the world) and about 2 years so far and I have never been scamed. Now it's a public declaration, I should take care, haha =D

I need to scam you now lol

lol be careful KRF it may backfire

Is there actually a conversation going on here?..........Now cut that out! rofl

If you need work, you can't just rely on one specific place to find it. I suggest finding some other sources besides this.

@Sprucemagoo: Watermark your work!!- or request a deposit before you do any work! it's too easy to get ripped off these days.

Wow slow everywhere.knock knock anyone home
check in here any more? ;)

Well this thread started off semi_good,(lets see if we can get it rolling again) Any other members here been finding work on the side lately?

I have two students taking lessons at the moment, and I'm trying to cut a deal for some Ebay product editing. Other than that...it's pretty flat I don't advertise or even have a website. I rely mainly on word of mouth.
I, as well as others, did a restoration the other day on the "other site". They came back and said mine was the best, and left an email address for contact. I both PMed them and sent an email, didn't even mention a price---no response. Whats' with people?

I do a freebie for private parties now and then, but if it's business related in any way forget it. Businesses charge money, what makes them think we don't expect to be paid? And the much used offer to have them put your name on their site isn't compensation, it's simply proof that you're a sucker. What we do has value and if people aren't willing to pay properly for your skills, then don't do it.

any little bit helps I can't compete with the bots and all the advertising on every page I see nowadays

Is anyone vetting the people putting job posts up, there has only been one genuine one that I have seen recently, and I pounced on that mother.

Once you learn html and how to do cascading style sheets, you can have fun learning java script.

Not that I know of Magoo.
I get jobs usually from an email but thats very rare lately use to be at least one a day but it kept me busy I guess I have time to study code lately
"AS MUCH AS I cringe at the thought "lol

First things first, don't look at it as challenging or that you hate to do it, make it fun and think of the doors that will open once you get a grip on HTML and CSS...
