Well this is my beta run of GretnaInn.com and I?m pleased to be near completion. I need some insight from others and maybe a little error correction if you see necessary. I haven?t had the chance to view it on any other computers so I figured I would as the experts!

I?m looking for advice on what to change or how I could make the site appear more professional. If you don?t like it, tell me! I want to know that to? go into detail if you would.

Hi Wait,

The colors work well with the site. The header... the gray/blue horizontal bar kills the nice image you have in the background. Have you tried removing it and placing your rollover text directly under the navigation? I would move the main logo more to the right and give it a little space to the left... this would open up the left side of the header. The position you have it now is flush left and for me... IMO doesn't work. Good work so far...just some thoughts... what really matters is if the client is happy with it.

Thx Hatch,

I think you hit it right on the head. I wasn?t able to figure out what was wrong with the header but I knew it looked too cluttered. I just couldn?t put my finger on it. And to think something as simple as what you said just clicked for me. Designer?s block I guess. I?ll have to play around with your idea some time today. But for now, it?s time to get some sleep.

Oh! Your site's home page seems to have some error, a broken image I believe.

I would also put some drop shadows behind the images, Joe. They look rather plain just sitting there on that white background. :righton:

Well, this is what I've done thus far. Let me know what you think of the changes. I just have to optimize the file size and put it into the origional site.

Much better IMO. The rollovers work fine and are better presented in the new location. I like being able to look at the hotel.

Something I played around with.

Just an idea...

ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL!!! MAN!!

Nice catch! This is exactly why my wife goes through after I type and edits for me. :bustagut:

I changed it out.

Thanks again, Hatch

Yeah Doc, I really shouldn?t be talking about the "weather" it is such an unexciting
[sleepy] subject. Haha?

Hatch I think you are on to something. I need to simplify the header because of how long it takes to load. I think I could cut it in half, making the top portion the background image and the lower interactive for the buttons.

Any ideas on how to better optimize for a smaller file size yet keeping the quality of the image(s)?

Hi Wait. I like the changes to the header banner!

I did have a small critical kvetch about the image you are using on the Amenities page. The Allstate add. If the Gretna Inn isn't associated with Allstate, who ran 'good hands' adds for years, I suggest that you might want to consider another image. That one is too close to a long standing corporate cliche.

Its great that I'm learning so much as I go along... I'll need this knowledge in the future. Especially if I want to become more efficient at what I'm doing. Well, here it is another revision. Now? I?m going to get some shut-eye!
  • Gretna Inn Header - Link[/list:u]IE seems to have an issue witht the spacing. I'll have to work on that later. \:]
