I Need Some Critique

Vampire because I like you I am going to give you some tough love and critique here so please dont be offended by what I say, and my opinion probably isnt going to be the same as everyone elses.

I am going to pick your theme apart to begin with starting with psychological effects the consumer will likely get when visiting your site.
Everything is horror themed bright red which red means danger your font is horror looking to me I would never hire a designer on the 1st impressions, mainly because it says danger.

second impression is your home button has either got a coding mistake by you as when you hover over it the whole page jumps up.

Your spacing between the navigation bar buttons are not alligned properly and should have more space between them.

Your style is in your face your fonts are loud and not easy to read.

Your selling yourself as a designer (honestly imho you have a lot to learn and it is a bit premature to be trying to solicitate any professional work) You have to learn to walk before you can run. Your site should be crisp clean looking and modern I know you are at the early stages of learning and I am trying to be as nice as I can but looking at your site please dont take this offensively it looks like a site I would have been pulling out when I was 14 (15 years ago) The old style html look looks dated and immature.

I understand you are is it correct to assume you are a gothic person into gorey vampires and death unless you are catering for this market of clients if not then you need to go simple classic with maybe bold matching bright colours keep it simple yet elegant etc if you are selling yourself as a designer then at least show you are modern and up with current trends

I also understand that the site is no where near finished but the direction it is heading in is a disaster in my eyes for the profession you are aiming for.

I think I will shut up now before you take to much offence to what I am saying.

Maybe change it instead of selling yourself as a designer change it to some kind of blog site about things you are comfortable with like death and vampires while you are learning and grasp a better idea of design.

This is purely my view if I found your site on google and wanted some pro work doing.

You have a request section but how would you cope with it if I messaged you and said I would like a corporate logo designing and stationary etc.

in fact prove me wrong design a logo for me just call it Hoogle or something maybe hoogleography for my photography I would like it crisp, clean, Modern and yet still has classic design and elegance with it. in fact that makes me sound like I am asking you for a freebie so use any members name and I dont want to see the word vampire in it and make up a business for them graphic design etc.

Your portfolio thumb nails could do with being enlarged and layed out nicer and really once again the images do not scream out your a designer and you know what your doing.

plain and simple is better than loud and scary if you are still learning.

You have probably given up trying to read this lol so I will go.

Good Luck.

Actually I appreciated reading your comments and understand where you are coming from. I do like the links but it does'nt really fit a site for someone who is selling their skills. I do like my logo though. Yes, I am nowhere near finished with it and am going to wait until I get proper training in graphic and web design before marketing my services. I really appreciate all of your help and am thankful that this place exists.

Glad you came back to me lol I was starting to think I may have been negative and scared you off. people complain we only gove positive feedback and not honest well I think i just proved them wrong lol. The problem is if you want to sell your services online and get realistic prices for your work you need to be at the top of the game and show what you can do straight away. You have seen the freelance section here if you cant offer what people want then they will just go elsewhere and pay almost insulting prices for a job done.

Back in the day if you wanted a logo making from scratch for example you would be looking at payng several hundred dollars for it nowadays everyone is on te inernet reaching a world wide audience of photoshoppers at very competetive prices so they will only offer $10 to $50 for something that would really be worth $400.

It is like anything though technology is making everything easy you have 12 year old kids using photoshop at school downloading illegal versions at home and killing in the niche market we once were.

Take photography for example if you wanted a nice family portrait you wentto a studio paid hundreds of dollars for it to be done by a pro these day everyone has digital cameras and smartphones so just do it themselves.

So if your selling yourself online you want people to go to your site and go wow this Graphic Designer really knows what they are doing.

Good luck and remember it does not happen overnight. Stick with it and you will soon be up in the freelance section earning money from it lol.
