I have this part of a photo that I cannot fix. It's driving me nuts. I've tried everything that I know how to do and it's not working. I need it to be black like the shirt and not the odd color line that it came out to be with lighting. Picture 5.png

Thanks for using PSG please come back and next time be a very clear in your request.

Sorry but I thought that it was pretty obvious. My poor studio lighting skills ended up with part of her arm an odd color, not black and "I need it to be black like the shirt and not the odd color line that it came out to be". I'm usually good with correcting but have never run into this issue before. Please help if you'd like.

Obvious no, with renewed explanation and requirement yes, hang in there someone might be along to help you out.

Sure looks similar to Paul's version, I'm still confused

Look at the color of the skin that is visible. It is wildly oversaturated. If you drop the vibrance and/or saturation of the whole image, you'll almost certainly wind up with a much better looking black in the arm of the shirt.

Are you looking for something like this?

Tom

PS#1 - The reds were so badly blown out that there was no way to rescue any detail in them, so I just added a touch of noise.

PS#2 - Never EVER post an image on the web in any color space except sRGB. Your original was in a color space designed to correct LED lights.

are you talking about my image compared too pauls? if you are there must be something wrong
with my monitor or settings because pauls looks like black paint over the arm on my screen

Nothing seriously wrong with your monitor, Ego. Here's one sees if you brighten Paul's.

However, the paint is quite dark, so if you can easily see it, you monitor might be too bright. Some Apple products are notorious for this.

I must have missed something Mike!

I tried the Shadow/Highlight adjustment with only a few other minor tweaks.
Don't know if it's as good as Toms.
