Hey Everyone,

I'm new on here. Good to meet you :D

I created a pattern made up of hand drawn photoshop tools. It got printed on Threadless as a Select range shirt. Thought I would share with like-minded people. Hope you all like it! Let me know what you think.

I can't post links on here yet, but you can find it if you search for the design All Day I Dream About Photoshop on the Threadless website.

Best wishes,

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

You asked, I think from afar it looks like polka dots..... I wouldn't be caught dead in it  but I have a suggestion, make those designs bigger maybe it would look (more betta) nice try though, at least it's photoshop. Now before anyone gets all hot and bothered,HE ASKED.
Good idea, but it's back to the drawing-board IMO

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

Thanks iDad - I appreciate the feedback. I'm a 'she' by the way :) My original design was a lot larger and more visible but Threadless decided to make it smaller for printing on the shirt, I guess to give it a more chic look. At first I thought it was a shame, but now I realise it suits the shirt. Nice to have something accepted by them, so no need to go back to the drawing board on this one ;) Thanks for the reply! Em

Oh adobe excepted, wow congrats. Not my thing but hey if your a designer then hats off to you, for adobe to give you thumbs up then youre golden

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

I'm not sure there is any need for the sarcasm. Also, I never said it was "accepted by Adobe". It was a Threadless competition. You're not really making much sense.

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

I would have chosen one icon from the pallet and placed it on/off the shoulder but fairly large if you know what i mean?

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

Wouldn't be the first time I heard that, the pattern is cool, on the shirt not so much

Re: I designed a Photoshop shirt!

So you're from the smoke, i miss England some days, bit snowy there of late i hear.

Hey, this one looks great in my eyes.
I really like it in the close up, the picture from far away also looks a bit odd to me, but I think it is different if you see it in reality.

Sorry for the oxymoron, but it's been snowy as hell here, and then sunny as anything. I'd rather be in Perth than Britain.

Wall to wall sun does have it's downsides too you know mate.

Hi em,

I like the idea of the Ps tools on a shirt, but I'm going with Paul on this one. The way threadless printed your version does not appeal to my sense of fashion taste. I agree that they should have been much larger. I think the concept of dreaming about Photoshop all day could have been depicted better in the manner Paul spoke of.

Since I'm known for my rants on copyright, I won't beat that dead horse at the moment. Hand drawn or not, I see what iDad was referring to about it being accepted by Adobe. All icon designs associated to any of Adobe's software is copyrighted. If the intent is to market the printed shirts for profit, there may be some issues.

I also lived in GB for 4 years. I loved living there and I hope to go back one day and visit my old haunts.

I doubt that most icons are copyrighted or even copyright-able. Most of them, if not all are in use in many graphics and CAD programs. I doubt very much that Adobe has exclusive rights to these symbols.

All icons are absolutely copyrightable. Yes, they are very similar but not the same. Do a comparison for yourself. (look at Sprucemagoo1's example) Adobe has exclusive rights to their icons and symbols. I don't doubt there is great leniency among the different software companies when it comes to similarities and consistency of icons, but it would be a mistake to assume that they are not copyrighted.

Last bit of my pennies worth! If they are hand drawn, it would surely be hard for anyone to pin down exactly which software she copied them from, unless every software company that used them tried suing her, in which case she can't have copied them all in the same instance. The only way there could be a conviction, is if all the software companies pay for the right to use them logos from the original designer.

As they are hand drawn, like you said, they may be similar, but not the same. Why should windows, adobe coral and other software producers be able to do similar logos to each other, and the little guy gets persecuted. They are the ones who are competing against each other!

I guess its best to err on the side of caution but the icons I have seen in various programs appeared to be extremely similar to me. That being said I did not do a careful comparison so I could be wrong about this.
