Recent challenges made me think of this in it's honour lol.

Just the Bamboo Pen version Steve, i have no real need for gimmicks like screen rotation and drag around, i just want to manipulate images with a pen over a mouse.

I have 2 tablets on 2 desks.
I use the Intuos4 with the main computer on a large desk, and Bamboo touch for my laptop which I turned into a Bamboo Pen when I turned off the touch options.
Like you I found the touch gimmicks to be a distraction.

Is it true that the bamboo can be a little awkward to use for close up fine work, as the pen starts to work before it actually touches the pad?

I have been thinking about getting one of those too! I don´t quite understand how they work though, I have a small pen tablet, but that only lets you sit and try to write or draw with it just by moving the stylus while you are looking at what you are doing on the screen, it´s not very easy and isn´t much help. Do these wacom things allow you to draw and paint directly on them? I mean do you see what you are doing on the tablet screen instead of the computer, or both?

Same as what you already have vafann you draw on the pad while watching your monitor.

The Day is comming! (how may hours left?)
Tommorow you'll be very happy or very disappointed (happens sometimes when want something real badly).
I wish you the first one! Then we'll get more good paintings :)

Oh, I thought that there was some kind of pad that you could actually see what you were drawing on the pad itself... well, I guess I should start practicing on the one I have then. :)

The Wacom Cintiq will allow you to do that, but you'll have to spend around $1000.

I have a bamboo tablet as well, but rarely use it since i bought a highly precise Razer mouse. It does practicly the same but is easier to use as a mouse
